Voters are also choosing candidates in the U.S. House races that will help shape which party controls Congress during President Trump’s final two years in office.

The ballot includes a roster of other statewide offices — lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, controller, treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, insurance commissioner and members of the Board of Equalization — as well as picks for California’s  Assembly and Senate.

Recent polls in the governor’s contest show Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer in a close race with Republican Steve Hilton. The top two candidates, regardless of party, will move on to the November election.
